Solio Lodge is nestled between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains on Solio Conservancy. The ranch spreads over 45,000 acres with a 19,000-acre wildlife conservancy. Solio is home to black and white rhinos that live in harmony with other wildlife, including lions, leopards and cheetahs. Solio is a gold-rated eco-lodge, signifying that it operates under the strictest guidelines of sustainability and continually strives to leave as minimal an impact on its surroundings as possible. Solio has five individual cottages, one of which is a family unit with two en-suite bedrooms that accommodates up to five people. Each cottage has a large sitting area with an open fireplace. The en-suite bathrooms are enormous with double sinks, showers, baths, separate toilets and dressing
areas. Each cottage has floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a large veranda from which guests can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kenya. There is a fireplace in every room and Wi-Fi in the rooms only. Guests are served in-room massage offering a variety of treatments. All rooms have showers and baths, handmade Kenyan toiletries, dressing gowns, slippers and hair dryers. There is a fridge and a safe in the rooms. Laundry service included; due to cultural reasons, washing the powder is provided for ladies to wash their own underwear. The guests are given a Gym In A Bag, each bag contains a yoga mat, skipping rope and post-safari stretch card. Guests can enjoy game drives within the conservancy. Also can go horseback riding, walking or cycling within Solio’s Ranch. The lodge’s location allows for easy access to Mount Kenya by helicopter and the Aberdares by road, for trout fishing. Children are welcome and under three’s stay free.
