Jim’s Farm Villas is a luxury boutique hotel on a 50-acre organic spice farm where black pepper, mango, cinnamon, coconuts and coffee are grown commercially. It is a paradise surrounded by jungle-covered hills and mountains and it is ideally situated in the heart of the Cultural Triangle within easy reach of Sri Lanka’s leading UNESCO World Heritage sites which are a must-see for most visitors. Jim’s Farm Villas offers a wealth of experiences to introduce you to the fantastic diversity of Sri Lanka’s environment. Kevin, the owner of the hotel and farm, dedicated the farm to his father’s memory. Kevin’s father, Jim, was a farmer in Suffolk, England for many years, and inspired Kevin to create his own sustainable organic farm in Sri Lanka.

Here, you are offered free daily farm and birdwatching tours. Sri Lanka is a paradise for birdwatchers (twitchers) with many indigenous species, including the famous hanging parrot. Many of these birds visit the farm at different seasons – 102 species have been spotted so far – including peacocks!

At Jim’s Farm Villas you can also get an Ayurvedic treatment from their resident Ayurvedic doctor. Ayurveda (meaning “science of life” in Sanskrit) is a holistic system of medicine that originated in India 5000 years ago and has been practised in Sri Lanka for over 3000 years.  

Jim’s Farm Villas supports their local economy by sourcing fresh fruit and vegetables from local suppliers in addition to using fruits and spices from their trees and bushes.

The hotel’s resident chefs offer you a fine dining experience in an idyllic location. Enjoy your choice of breakfast with the scent of spices and flowers from their gardens.

Your dining style

Whilst breakfast can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own table, dinner will be a communal affair at the Mango Villa. Kevin, the owner – when in attendance – will host the table as you meet and exchange stories of the day’s experiences with fellow travellers and new friends. However, if you would prefer to dine privately, they can offer you personal service in a location of your choice. (Please provide your special dietary requirements during booking.)

Sustainability

Jim’s Farm Villas is aiming to protect and enhance the beautiful Sri Lankan environment, and have therefore installed solar hot water panels on the roofs of the Villas, and a rainwater harvesting system to feed the lakes.

All the water at Jim’s is triple-filtered through charcoal, sand and UV so that it can be drunk directly from the tap, thus the use of plastic water bottles would be minimised. They also treat and re-use the wastewater from their kitchen and bathrooms to irrigate appropriate crops. All organic waste from the kitchens is fed to farm birds and animals.
