Ecocapsule is a self-sufficient micro-home ideal for 1-2 overnight stays with its kitchen, toilet, and shower. Energy is fed in through solar cells integrated into the roof and a wind generator. Ecocapsule is the only rentable capsule in Europe! The first Ecocapsule in Switzerland is based in the small Bernese Oberland mountain village as part of a village development project. It is a self-catering accommodation (with a shopping voucher from the village shop or for consumption in the nearby restaurant) on a meadow in the center of the small mountain village.

The prices for an overnight stay in the Ecocapsule are in the higher price segment, although it is basically a modest accommodation in terms of area. However, the Ecocapsule offers the comfort of a hotel room and, in addition to a shower (modest, like in a caravan) and toilet, also has a small kitchen with stove and refrigerator for self-cookers. A WLAN is available in the capsule.

The energy for all installations is produced by the solar cells integrated into the roof and a wind generator and stored in a battery. The room climate is pleasantly warm down to sub-zero temperatures. The capsule has air conditioning. The rainwater collected from the roof is stored in a water tank integrated into the bottom of the chasuble and processed into drinking water.

Since the overnight stay in the Ecocapsule should be linked to local added value and contact between the guests and the population, a voucher for consumption in the hotel “Bären” or purchase in the village shop is included in the overnight price. In addition, an amount of CHF 10.- for a climate protection project by “myclimate” and “newTree” is transferred to WWF Switzerland for each overnight stay. If you travel to Guttannen by public transport in a climate-friendly manner, you will receive a discount of 10 percent on the room rate. Almost half of the room rate is used to finance the capsule.
